Future Builders's MISRGO - Tobacco Prevention Program targets minority women in Pulaski and Jefferson counties and focuses on the following issues: smoking and HIV, smoking and pregnancy and counter-marketing in the Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender (LGBT) community. Objectives will serve minority women from middle to high school, pregnant women, teenage female groups, minority women infected with or affected by HIV and members of the lesbian-gay-questioning-transgender community and their families. A collaboration of female groups & organizations, community and health representatives, and community-based organizations will engage in comprehensive strategies to accomplish program objectives.
The goal of the program is to provide tobacco prevention messages to youth and adults in communities of Pulaski and Jefferson counties. The program focuses on these four interventions areas:
- Preventing Initiation among Youth and Adults
- Promoting Quitting among Youth and Adults
- Eliminating Exposure to Secondhand Smoke
- Identifying and Eliminating Tobacco Related Disparities among Populations and Groups.
